Sugarman, Rogers, Barshak & Cohen, P.C. has elected Gwen Nolan King and Kenneth Thayer as shareholders of the firm effective January 1, 2021.

Gwen Nolan KingGwen Nolan King concentrates her practice in employment, tort defense, and complex business and real estate litigation. Gwen routinely represents employers in cases involving allegations of discrimination, sexual harassment, and other employment-related claims. Clients seek Gwen’s expertise in assessing and investigating employment issues with the goal of minimizing the risk of future litigation. Gwen’s clients include educational institutions, municipalities, Fortune 500 companies, and individuals. They value their close working relationships with Gwen, as well as her pragmatic approach to solving problems.

Gwen has been named a “Super Lawyer” and “Rising Star” in Business Litigation by Massachusetts Super Lawyers. She is regularly invited to lecture and author resources on both employment law and civil litigation. Gwen currently serves on the Board of Directors of the Women’s Bar Association and previously served on the steering committee for the Boston Bar Association’s College & University Section.

Gwen is a graduate of Fairfield University and Cornell Law School.

Kenneth N. ThayerKenneth Thayer provides strategic counsel and advocacy to clients in business, insurance, environmental, product liability, and employment matters. An experienced trial lawyer, Ken has achieved successful results in disputes involving commercial contracts, non-compete and non-solicitation agreements, trade secrets, fiduciary duties, consumer protection, and insurance coverage issues. In addition, he represents clients in environmental litigation and regulatory proceedings involving hazardous waste, waterways, tidelands, and energy facilities.

Ken has been named a “Rising Star” in Business Litigation by Massachusetts Super Lawyers. He currently serves as a council member for the Massachusetts Bar Association’s Complex Commercial Litigation Section and has served as the chairman of that section’s annual conference each year since 2018.

Ken is a graduate of Boston University and Boston University Law School.
