Partner Lisa C. Goodheart, and Denise I. Murphy of Rubin and Rudman, were recently appointed by the Supreme Judicial Court to co-chair a special committee that will lead the search process for the next Bar Counsel, upon the retirement of longtime Bar Counsel Constance Vecchione.

The Board of Bar Overseers of the Supreme Judicial Court of Massachusetts (“BBO”) is an independent body charged with overseeing attorney registration and disciplinary proceedings against attorneys in the Commonwealth. Within the BBO, the role of the Chief Bar Counsel is to oversee the investigation of matters involving alleged lawyer misconduct, recommend to the BBO the institution of formal disciplinary proceedings, prosecute disciplinary proceedings, develop and carry out policies for bar discipline in collaboration with the BBO, and lead the Office of Bar Counsel, among other duties.

The other members of this search committee are SJC Associate Justice Frank M. Gaziano, Thomas H. Bilodeau, III, Grace V.B. Garcia, Sherri Gilmore, Katherine L. Kenney, Hannah L. Kilson, Sandy Lundy, Thomas F. Maffei, John J. Morrissey, Elizabeth N. Mulvey, Patrick J. O’Toole, Jr., Vincent J. Pisegna, Victoria Santoro Mair, Siobhan M. Sweeney, and Richard C. Van Nostrand.

You can read the full Bar Counsel Position Profile here – applications will be accepted by the BBO through February 15, 2019.
