Sugarman Rogers helps candidates and campaigns with all aspects of election law, including ballot access, ballot challenges, voter protection, ballot questions, as well as in recounts. We also advise candidates, campaigns, and non-profits on state and federal campaign finance law and compliance. At Sugarman Rogers, we counsel clients on how to navigate election law pitfalls and win.

Our election law practice group has experience guiding clients and campaigns through both complex, high-profile challenges and routine election law matters. We understand election law matters are high stakes, and we provide our clients with excellent legal advice grounded in our experience. At Sugarman Rogers, we work across and in multiple disciplines to best meet the needs of our clients, and our election law group frequently taps the expertise of our government law practice to best serve our clients’ specific needs.

We have appeared before the State Ballot Law Commission and state and federal courts in significant election law matters. In addition, we have overseen several recounts, from small town offices to a large multi-municipality, district-wide campaign. Election law practice chair Kate Cook draws upon her past experience as Assistant Corporation Counsel to the City of Boston Election Commission, where she advised the Boston Election Commission on all facets of the City’s elections and represented the City in state and federal court in election law matters. Our election law practice group is committed to voter protection, and members have volunteered their services pro bono as election protection counsel in Florida, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, and Pennsylvania.
