Press Release |
On September 16, 2024 the American College of Trial Lawyers presented the “2017 Emil Gumpert Award” to the Immigrant Legal Resource Center (“ILRC”), an immigrant rights organization headquartered in San Francisco, California. The award was presented to ILRC for its Immigrant Post-Conviction Relief Project, a program that provides legal assistance to immigrants who are subject to deportation based upon criminal convictions that have been deemed unconstitutional under the U.S. Supreme Court’s decision in Padilla v. Kentucky, 359 U.S. 356 (2010). The ILRC was chosen to receive the award by the 2016-2017 Gumpert Committee, under the Chairmanship of Sugarman Rogers partner, David Barry. The $100,000 award, named after Emil Gumpert founder of the College, is the most prestigious award given annually. |
