Sugarman Rogers partner Michael S. Appel was recently appointed to serve as co-chair of the Boston Bar Association’s Insurance and Tort Litigation Section. In Michael’s many years of practice, he has obtained numerous large verdicts and settlements in medical malpractice, premises liability, workplace injury, and motor vehicle accident cases. Michael has played a leading role in litigation against pharmaceutical and medical device companies, most recently serving as Plaintiffs’ Co-Lead Coordinating Counsel in the consolidated Fresenius cases which are currently pending settlement. In 2016, Michael was selected as “Lawyer of the Year” for Mass Tort Litigation/Class-Action – Plaintiffs by Best Lawyers in America as well as by Super Lawyers for his personal injury and medical malpractice work, and named a “Litigation Star” by Benchmark Litigation for his plaintiff representation. The BBA has 24 sections, and co-chairs are appointed to two-year terms by the BBA president. Section co-chairs are responsible for helping their sections plan events and educational programs, and they play a vital role as leaders of our organization. |
