Join Meredith DeJesus Caradimos at the Boston Bar Association on February 27, 2018 for “When Family Gets Criminal: The Intersection of DCF, Family Law & Criminal Law.” This program, including Judge Dunn of the Suffolk Probate and Family Court as well as Tom Malone from the Department of Children and Families, will provide a broad overview of how DCF conducts abuse and neglect investigations, and the panelists will discuss how DCF interacts with the court with respect to the review of records and testimony under the Brantley and Dwyer protocols. The panelists will also touch on the implication of asserting the 5th Amendment privilege in such investigations, and the impact of such an assertion, as well as the effects of a party’s withdrawal of criminal allegations following DCFs involvement in a matter.
