Litigation Paralegal

Sugarman, Rogers, Barshak & Cohen, a leading civil litigation boutique in Boston, seeks a litigation paralegal with a minimum of five years’ experience. The candidate will provide support to attorneys in all practice areas, with a significant focus in the areas of family law and probate litigation.

The ideal candidate will have the ability to excel within a deadline-driven, service environment and to communicate clearly, concisely, and effectively. The role also requires meticulous attention to detail and excellent project management skills.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Assist multiple attorneys in all phases of litigation
• Analyze and summarize medical, financial, and other documents
• Assist in preparing, formatting, and proofreading pleadings, correspondence, and exhibits
• Assist in factual investigation and witness preparation, including working with experts
• Assist in discovery, including e-discovery, and coordinate bates-stamping, redaction, privilege logs, and production of documents
• Maintain and search document review databases
• Prepare for mediations and trials; organize exhibits, witness materials, trial notebooks, and other supporting documents; coordinate trial logistics
• Perform other tasks and duties as needed, including maintenance of litigation files and case tracking documents, as well as the creation of charts and spreadsheets; scanning and filing documents in the document management system; calendaring deadlines in the docketing system; organizing and maintaining forms, databases, and other materials

Requirements and Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree or paralegal certificate preferred with minimum 5+ years’ experience as a litigation paralegal
• Knowledge of court rules and procedures, including experience with eFiling
• Familiarity with the discovery of electronically stored information
• Ability to work independently, prioritize workload, and adapt to multiple and changing priorities
• Ability to perform under tight deadlines and maintain patience in high-pressure situations
• Strong working knowledge of advanced functions of Microsoft Office (including Word, Outlook, and Excel) and Adobe Acrobat.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.

• Ability to manage highly confidential information with professionalism and integrity
